National Women's
Ghedin: “Two fundamental months for our future”
First training camp of 2010 for the National Women's team that has started preparing again in Rome in light of the two most important appointments of the season: the World Cup qualifying matches scheduled against Portugal and Finland, the first on March 27th and the second four days later, on the 31st. "Two matches – underlined the Head Coach Ghedin – that are important for our path: our objective is to finish first in our group, it would be nice to finish unbeaten and leading the standings. An objective we can reach if we continue to play like we did today, taking advantage of the positive moment and the enthusiasm determined by our results in the recent European Championships".
In four qualifying matches for the upcoming World Cup, the Italian women's team has recorded four wins, 12 points, 25 goals scored and none taken in. The result of work planned in time: "I have been training the National women's team for about five years and we have come a long way: today I have a well-tested and solid group, with good individual talents and important reference points for the way we play. A group in which the young players have fit in perfectly, with an important recovery, Elisa Camporese, who after two years off the team, has returned to her role. In these days I have also included an interesting young player in the list, Brumana of Tavagnacco, who is currently the leading scorer in the league and in the meantime my collaborators and I continue to keep an eye out on the others".
The training camp that ends tomorrow, will be followed in February by the Cyprus tournament, an important international display case where the team will play against The Netherlands, New Zealand and Scotland: "A test – concludes Ghedin – to evaluate the team and important to reinforce the process of maturation of the entire movement. I will bring an historic group with me, including the women who play abroad like Pini, Conti and Picarelli. Just like in the Algarve Tournament editions, we will do all we can to give a good impression".
