Tavecchio after meeting the Minister Minniti: “We have a common objective in guaranteeing safety”

“It was a very useful meeting, I want to thank Minister Minniti for the attention that he reserves for the world of football. We are in constant contact with the Ministry of the Interior. We are in harmony because we have the same objective to make sure that players, staff and fans can participate in and enjoy football in complete safety.” These were the words of FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio following his meeting with the Interior Minister Marco Minniti at the Viminale Palace which he attended alongside CEO Michele Uva.
“We have to keep working together,” began the Minister Minniti. “Stadiums have to go back to being full of families where they offer a spectacle to enjoy in peace.” The meeting allowed for a general evaluation of the current football season and there have been positives this year with a decrease in the number of violent episodes. The FIGC has shown that it has the measures already in place, it’s willing to get involved in every project to promote a welcoming atmosphere and participation from fans, in complete safety at football. The leagues have shown the same willingness. The topic of recent aggression against players and staff in various lower leagues was addressed with the Minister and the various football governing bodies coming together in a united front. The Minister expressed his satisfaction with the steps made “In elevating the theme of safety during football matches to the greatest extent possible.” This includes in the lower leagues where various organisations are running projects with the support of the Ministry’s Observation Unit on football to ensure a peaceful to the season and further progress on the subject of safety ahead of next season.
