Women’s Under-17 European Championship: Italy drawn against Spain, England and Poland

The draw was held this morning at the State Musical Theatre in Kaunas for the two groups at the Women’s Under-17 European Championship finals between 9th and 21st May in Lithuania. Italy are in Group B where they’ll play Poland, England and last year’s finalists and three-time winners Spain.

The Azzurrine will make their first appearance on Wednesday 9th May against Spain. On 12th May, Poland will be the opponents before the final match against England on 15th May. The top two sides from each group will progress to the semi-finals and there are three places at next November’s World Cup in Uruguay at stake.

"At this level, we knew that we’d have to face some very strong sides," said the Coach Massimo Migliorini. "Spain and England are two of the favourites and Poland are the only side other than Germany or Spain to have won a Women’s Under-17 European Championship [in 2013]. It will be good for the girls to play in tough matches and it will help them to develop."
