Motta, Giovinco and Matri news. Among the 23 players Buffon's return
Thiago Motta, Sebastian Giovinco, Alessandro Matri and the return of Gigi Buffon are the new faces among the 23 players called by Cesare Prandelli. For the Inter midfielder, the Parma midfielders and the Juventus forward, this is the first call on the national team, while Bffon returns eight months after the last match (Italy-Paraguay, debut match of the South Africa World Cup play last June 14th), before the injury to his back and the following surgery. Antonio Cassano is also in the group, after skipping the friendly match against Romania in November, along with Maggio and Nocerino called for the first time by Prandelli.
First match of 2011, the National team will be on the field for the friendly match against Germany. An important test, the one scheduled on Wednesday, February 9th, at the “Signal Iduna Park” stadium Dortmund (8:45 pm), three months after the last friendly match played on November 17th in Klagenfurt against Romania (1’1). In Dortmund Italy played their last match in 2006: the semifinal of the World Cup against Germany, that Italy one in overtime thanks to goals scored by Grosso and Del Piero.
The Azzurri meet Tomorrow in Coverciano at 12:30 pm and in the afternoon will have their first training session (3:30 pm). On Tuesday, training in the morning and departure for Dortmund in the afternoon.
The friendly match against Germany comes before the European qualification that for Italy begin in “Stozice Stadium” in Lubiana on March 25th, in the match against Slovenia (8:45 pm).

*The addition of player Thiago Motta in the official FIGC communication with other players called for Germany-Italy depends on the formal authorization of FIFA, after request presented by FIGC in light of article 18 of the Statute of the International Federation that regulates the change of Federation.
