Italy - Eire 1-1

Italy is always first in the standings, two points ahead of the Republic of Ireland. But the tie in Bari (1-1) is bittersweet because of an episode on 4’ of play that conditioned the match: the red-carding of Pazzini. The determination and character shown by the group coached by Lippi , in ten on the field, that went ahead with a goal by Iaquinta was almost overshadowed. The Italians suffered and closed up spaces as best as possible, until just a few minutes from the final whistle when Ireland tied with a goal by Keane.
