The top-performing Italians of the 2019/20 Serie A season in terms of saves, passing, assists and goals

Now the 2019/20 Serie A season has come to an end, let's take a look at the statistics and the top performers from this season. In this article we look to establish various “speciality categories”, in which we’ll be picking the top performers for goals, assists, pass completion and saves. And we’ll be doing all that using the dedicated section of the Figc.it website, where the database is freely available, with information about teams and individual players alike.

First, let’s look at saves: the Italian goalkeeper who has stopped the most shots this season was Luigi Sepe of Parma, with 140 in 34 matches, which amounts to 4.1 a game, followed by Salvatore Sirigu of Torino, with 139 in 36 matches, and Hellas Verona man Marco Silvestri, with 119 in 35 matches.

When it comes to pass completion, Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci tops the rankings with 2,144 in 35 matches (60.4 per game). Manuel Locatelli of Sassuolo finished just behind him with (2,113 in 33 matches), while Lazio centre-back Francesco Acerbi, with 2,024 in 36 matches, comes in third completing our podium.

Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini of Roma tops the rankings for assists with 9, while Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo and Lazio top scorer Ciro Immobile finish in a joint second with 8 assists.

It should come as no surprise that Immobile was even more dominant when it came to goalscoring this season, with 36 goals in 37 appearances, matching Gonzalo Higuaín’s record and picking up the prestigious European Golden Shoe along the way. Second in the ranking was Sassuolo frontman Francesco Caputo, who absolutely smashed his previous scoring record this season, netting 21 times for the Neroverdi. Also coming out with a podium finish was Andrea Belotti, who bagged 16 goals for Torino this season in Serie A.
