A well-respected judge, he was former vice-president of the 3rd section at the Federal Court of Appeals, vice-president of National Disciplines Commission and vice-president of the National Federal Court

FIGC mourns the passing of Claudio Franchini

The FIGC, and its President, Gabriele Gravina, would like to send their deepest condolances to friends and family of Claudio Franchini, vice-president of the 3rd section at the Federal Court of Appeals, who sadly passed away on Saturday at the age of 68. A well-respected judge, he was part of the FIGC's sporting justice team for around 20 years, and was also vice-president of National Disciplines Commission and of the National Federal Court.

During a long and prestigious career, he taught in several different faculties, especially at Roma's Tor Vergata university, where he was Professor of Administratve Law, providing a significant contribution as Vice-rector too, having previously held roles also as Director of the Public Law department, President of the Conference of directors department and vice-rector for the coordination of research and teaching departments, and the implementation of new regulations.

He collaborated with the Ministry of Public Service, with the Ministry of Education, Univerisity and Research, and with the Department of Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, chairing ministerial study commisions and managing various university-level research projects. He was the author and editor of various essays and volumes, in Italy and abroad, on the subject of public economic law, the organisation and working of public administration, administrative justice and European administrative law, sports laws, as well as some educational publications.

His funeral will take place today at 15:00 CET at the Basilica di Sant'Agnese in via Nomentana 349.
