Claudio Ranieri

An incredibly experienced coach, Ranieri rose to fame as a player for Roma, where he made his debut at the age of 22, and above all with Catanzaro, for whom he remains the club's all-time Serie A appearance holder with 128 matches between 1976 and 1982.

His managerial career spanned almost four decades, from his first role with Vigor Lamezia in the Interregional League in 1986 to his final spell at Roma during the 2024/25 season. Along the way, he left a lasting legacy at several clubs thanks to a series of remarkable achievements. He took charge of Cagliari in Serie C1 in 1988 and guided the club to back-to-back promotions, reaching Serie A in 1990. At Fiorentina, he won both the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup in 1996. In Italy, he also managed Parma, Napoli, Juventus, Roma, Inter, Sampdoria, before returning for further spells with both Cagliari and Roma.

He also enjoyed a number of successful experiences abroad, beginning in Spain with Valencia in 1997, where he won both the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey. He later managed Atlético Madrid and Chelsea before returning to Valencia for a second spell. He also coached Monaco, leading the club to promotion to Ligue 1, before taking charge of Greece in his first and only role as a national team head coach.

In July 2015, Ranieri returned to England to oversee what became the greatest achievement of his managerial career. At the end of an extraordinary campaign, he led Jamie Vardy and his Leicester City teammates to the club's first-ever Premier League title, the first top-flight league championship in the club's 132-year history.

From Rome's Testaccio district, Ranieri brought his managerial career to a close with his beloved Roma after spending two years in charge of Cagliari, guiding the Sardinian club back to Serie A and securing their top-flight survival the following season.

Inducted into the Italian Football Hall of Fame in 2016 in the Italian Coach category, he also received a Special Panchina d'Oro that same year, presented by the FIGC Technical Sector.
