Silvio Baldini
Tecnico Nazionale Under 21
Born in Massa in September 1959, Silvio Baldini had a brief playing career with several amateur teams in Tuscany before going on to enjoy a long managerial career. He began coaching at just 26 years old with Bagnone in the Seconda Categoria, before continuing his journey in his native Tuscany with Massese, Viareggio, Siena and Carrarese. In the 1997/98 season he took charge of ChievoVerona, making his managerial debut in Serie B.
Two years later, after a spell with Brescia, he moved to Empoli, guiding the club to promotion to Serie A at the end of the 2001/02 season. Over the following years he took charge of Palermo, Parma, Lecce, Catania, and Empoli again (in the 2008/09 season). After ending his spell with Vicenza in 2011, he stepped away from football for six years before returning to Carrarese in 2017, remaining there until April 2020.
In December 2021 he returned to Palermo in Serie C, guiding the Rosanero back to Serie B thanks to their play-off victory over Padova, a promotion which earned him the Panchina d'Oro Serie C in February 2023. After spells with Perugia and Crotone, he enjoyed a highly successful season with Pescara in 2024/25: the team finished fourth in the regular season of Group B in Serie C and won the play-off against Ternana, securing promotion to Serie B. On 17 July 2025 he was appointed head coach of the Italy U21 team.
