The UEFA Executive Committee has decided to comply with the request from a number of head coaches of sides at Euro 2024 to extend the number of players called up for the tournament that will begin on 14 June. Different to Euro 2020 when a maximum of 23 players could be involved in the game (the other three sitting out), all 15 players will be on the bench and available to play in Germany. Italy Head Coach, Luciano Spalletti, also expressed his support for the change whilst at the recent UEFA workshop in Dusseldorf.
The list of 26 players is not obligatory. Finalised squad lists for Euro 2024 must be communicated to UEFA by 7 June, a week before the tournament begins.
