A player tests positive for coronavirus and, along with another individual, goes into isolation

Among those called up to the Under-21 National Team, a particular player’s swab test came back positive prior to the team’s training camp ahead of their upcoming matches against Slovenia and Sweden.

In compliance with existing protocols, the relevant individual and a player who had been in close contact with said individual were not allowed to join up with the rest of the squad and were required to go into isolation.

The team met up on Sunday evening and will return to action at 17:30 CEST on Thursday 3 September, when they’ll face Slovenia in a friendly at the Stadio Guido Teghil in Lignano Sabbiadoro almost ten months on from when they last took to the pitch.
