Azzurrini beat Hungary 3-1 thanks to goals from Mosconi, Camarda and Di Nunzio

After two draws against Germany last time out, the Under 16s got back to winning ways by beating Hungary 3-1 in Telki, thanks to goals from Mattia Mosconi (Inter), Francesco Camarda (Milan) and Alessandro Di Nunzio (Roma). "We played well in both sides of the game," commented Head Coach Daniele Zoratto. "We dominated from the first minute to the last playing some really good and enjoyable stuff. I was pleasantly taken aback by the character shown today by the lads who, as I've said in the past, are a really good group."

THE MATCH. The Azzurrini lined up with Pessina in goal; from right to left, in defence, Colombo, Verde, Zinni and Cama; in midfield, again from right to left, Olivieri, Gariani and Pisani, and up front, ahead of trequartista Plicco, the pairing of Mosconi and Camarda.

After Camarda's goal was ruled out for offside on the 11th-minute mark, Zoratto's side then smashed the woodwork on 21 minutes, again from the 2008-born striker. But two minutes later, Mosconi tapped in after being played in by the ever-present number 11. In the second half, the Azzurrini took further control of the game after 53 minutes as they doubled their lead courtesy of Camarda, who won and then converted a penalty-kick. In the closing stages, there was time for a superb left-footed finish from outside the box by Di Nunzio, after replacing Alessandro Olivieri (Empoli) at half-time, giving Tompa no chance, as well as a late consolation goal for Hungary by Barkóczi in the third, and last, minute of stoppage-time.

On Thursday 20 April, at 11:00 CEST, the two sides will meet again in Telki: "In the next game, I hope they can repeat today's performance," said the Head Coach. "I'll start with a completely different starting eleven to give everyone a chance."
