Bollini calls up 27 players for training camp in Rome

Almost have a month after their last training camp at Tirrenia, Alberto Bollini has named his 27-man squad for an Under-20 training camp, which will be held at the Olympic Training Centre in Rome from 4 to 11 October.

17 of them were born in 2001 and ten in 2002. It’s a group that represents the backbone of a team that should, providing there are now further postponements - this would be the fourth since March due to COVID-19 - compete in the second stage of qualification to the Under-19 Euros: the Elite phase will be held between 11 and 17 November in Padua.

Italy’s opponents in Group 5 are Iceland, Norway and Slovenia and their objective is to finish top of the group, which is the only place that enables progression to the finals in Northern Ireland in March. The tournament was due to be held in July of this year and would have mainly been open to players born in 2001. Furthermore, five places at the Under-20 World Cup in Indonesia are up for grabs.
