Bollini calls up 30 players for training and two friendlies

The Italian Under-20 National Team are set to return to action: Head Coach Alberto Bollini has picked 30 players for some training and two friendly games. They are due to meet up at the Olympic Training Centre in Tirrenia on the evening of 1 June and, after undergoing COVID tests, they will train twice daily from 1-4 June. On the morning of 5 June, the youngsters will play an 11-a-side game at the Coverciano Federal Technical Centre against Mancini’s senior squad to help prepare them for the Euros. Then, on Sunday 6 June, they will head to San Marino to play against the Sammarinese National Team at 18:00 CEST.

Defender Tommaso Cassandro has received a first call-up, starting his Azzurri journey with this training camp.

“I am very happy to get back to it by playing against the National Team at Coverciano: we are honoured to provide this service for the Azzurri so soon before the Euros begin. It will be an amazing experience for these U20 boys,” said Bollini. As regards training, the Head Coach outlined the key challenges to overcome: “During this long period of inactivity, the boys have all had different paths: some have played more than others. So, we will have to combine all the different aspects in preparation: from a physical and tactical/technical standpoint, as well as a mental one. With the final test in San Marino, we will have a chance to judge the state of play with this group.”
