The Under-20s will open their season with two high-profile friendlies: they face England in Chesterfield on Friday 5 September (20:30 CEST), before meeting Germany three days later at the Stadion an der Kreuzeiche in Reutlingen (18:30 CEST).

Carmine Nunziata returns to the U20 dugout after two years at the helm of the U21s. He has named a 27-man squad featuring six players born in 2007 (Cama, Emanuel, Idele, Mosconi, Nunziante and Sala) and one born in 2008 (Natali). The Azzurrini will convene on Monday 1 September at the Giulio Onesti Olympic Training Centre in Acqua Acetosa, Rome, before travelling to Birmingham on Wednesday 3 September.

The two fixtures form the first step on the road to the Under-20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Chile from 27 September to 19 October. Italy have been drawn in Group D alongside Argentina, Australia and Cuba.
