Euros draw: Azzurrini in Group C with Sweden, Slovakia, and Poland

Sweden, Slovakia, and Poland: there will be the Italy Under 17s opponents in the final round of the Euros, scheduled from 20 May to 5 June in Cyprus. The Azzurrini, drawn in Group C this afternoon in Ayia Napa, will make their debut on Tuesday 21 May against Poland ahead of Slovakia on Friday 24 and Sweden on Monday 27. The top two in each of the four groups will go through to the knockout stages (quarter-finals, semi-finals and final).

Coach Massimiliano Favo said: “Difficult draw. We have been put in a very difficult group, three of the four teams, us included, finished top in the previous round: this tells us a lot about the quality of the group”.

OPPOSITION. Roger Franzén’s Sweden qualified for the final phase after finishing top of Group 2 in the elite phase with 7 points, whilst Branislav Fodrek’s Slovakia bagged their ticket to Cyprus by finishing second (6 points) in Group 4, behind Ukraine. Rafal Lasocki’s Poland, finished top of Group 8 with 6 points, tied with Czechia but with a better goal difference (3, compared to the Czech 2).
