The road to UEFA eEURO 2021 set to begin, the Azzurri aiming for a second consecutive triumph

They’re the current world champions after winning the first virtual European Championship played on Pro Evolution Soccer (Playstation 4). Now, the TIMVISION PES eNazionale are dreaming of another triumph: UEFA eEURO 2021, the most important international eFootball tournament in the world, will be played next year on PES 2021.

The second edition of the Euros will see 55 UEFA federations get involved. Starting in November, they’ll select the teams for the qualifying phase, which will be staged at the beginning of 2021.  The ten group winners will automatically qualify for the final tournament, while the ten runners-up will compete in a play-off tournament from which six will progress. The finals will be held on 9 and 10 July in London.

“The UEFA eEURO has given efootball enthusiasts the chance to dream of representing their country on the biggest stage,” said UEFA marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein. "The inaugural UEFA eEURO was an undoubted success, with over 15 million people having watched competition footage across UEFA's platforms. We have seen a massive growth in the popularity of efootball over the past few years, and eEURO 2021 will continue to give us the opportunity to connect with new and existing fans. All competing teams will be looking to emulate Italy, who were victorious earlier this year."

Five months ago, Rosario ‘Npk_02’ Accurso, Nicola ‘nicaldan’ Lillo, Carmine ‘Naples17x’ Liuzzi and Alfonso ‘AlonsoGrayfox’ Mereu led Italy to glory: they were the four eplayers chosen by the Federation after a long selection process which culminated in a tournament played out at the Coverciano Federal Technical Centre in January. After reaching the final tournament, the Azzurri picked up maximum points during the group stage and then beat Israel in the quarter-finals and France in the semis. In the final, the deciding goal was made in Naples: with Italy’s fate in the hands of eplayer Carmine ‘Naples17x’ Liuzzi, Lorenzo Inzaghi scored in the 91st minute to win the fourth and final fixture against Serbia. All of Italy’s matches, from the qualifying stage through to the final, were broadcast live on TIMVISION, with excellent numbers tuning in.

For the second virtual European Championship, there will once again be four places available on the Azzurri team. In an open selection process, a series of online tournaments will take place between November and December later on this year. In January 2021, the winner of the aforementioned tournaments will face the four eplayers who made up Italy’s European Championship winning team to decide who will be the representatives of the new TIMVISION PES eNazionale.
