Preparations continue in Bologna. Di Biagio calls up Bonazzoli in place of Pinamonti

Three days before the European Championship kicks off, there’s a new addition to the Under-21 National Team: Padova forward Federico Bonazzoli. Luigi Di Biagio made a request to UEFA to replace Andrea Pinamonti after he left the Azzurrini’s training camp after undergoing tests. This morning, UEFA’s Medical Committee granted this request and the Head Coach called up Bonazzoli, who will join the group and take part in his first training session at Casteldebole this afternoon.

Italy have been placed in Group A and will play Spain on Sunday 16 June at Bologna’s Stadio Renato Dall’Ara in their opening match. Their remaining two group games are against Poland (Wednesday 19 June at 21:00 CEST in Bologna) and Belgium (Saturday 22 June at 21:00 CEST in Reggio Emilia).
