Soncin in attendance of the opening night of ‘Il Tempo delle Donne’
The Italy Women’s manager took part in the ‘La libertà di volere ancora tutto’ talk in Milan.Friday, September 12, 2025

Around two months have now passed since the Italy Women’s European adventure, but the impact of their journey is still clear to see. The highlights of the competition, including that late Girelli winner, are still very much in the minds of millions of Italians, as Andrea Soncin said at the Quirinale, in front of President Sergio Mattarella, they “dreamed, had fun and sang together with us.”
The coach then went on to speak about the emotions of the tournament, and of their time in Switzerland throughout the opening night of the twelfth edition of ‘Il Tempo delle Donne’ (Women’s Time), Corriere della Sera’s party-festival. “A magic environment was created this summer,” he said. “This is thanks to the team, the technical staff, and to everyone working behind the scenes. Two years ago, I discovered a world that I didn’t know existed. I created very strong connections with the players, and these are difficult to create in men’s football. I found the perfect setting for me, and I will never go back.”
There was the standout 2025 EUROs campaign, which came to an end in added time in the semi-finals against England, who just four days later went on to reclaim their trophy. The focus then went on Soncin’s linguistic and technical/tactical revolution of the team that he has been pursuing since taking charge. His “a nome di tutte noi” (in the name of us all), stated at the Quirinale, showed great attention to the topic. “Further than just lexical rules, I want to be true to our specific group, to the ‘we’ that has allowed us to achieve great things. The EUROs was a time of union and strong inclusion. All together, we want to continue to push our cultural campaign in such a way that these girls get the attention that they deserve.”
As well as Italy’s coach, there were other attendees at the ‘La libertà di volere ancora tutto’ talk, led by Barbara Stefanelli, deputy editor-in-chief of Corriere della Sera, including actress Michela Cescon, basketball player Francesca Pan, and volleyball player Sara Fahr, world champion with Julio Velasco’s team. Tomorrow, Soncin will head to Gradisca d’Isonzo to take part in the ‘Donne in campo. La partita per l’uguaglianza’ (Women in play. The match for equality) conference, organised for the sport, health and wellbeing festival, ‘SportinGradisca’, and to accompany the Under-17s, managed by Jacopo Leandri, playing in the final of the Female Football Tournament against Ireland on Sunday. Next week, he will continue his tour of the training camps of Serie A clubs, including visits to Juventus, Como, and AC Milan, scheduled for 17, 18, and 19 September.
