U18: Bolzan's goal not enough, Azzurrini beaten 2-1 by Serbia in the second friendly in Aquila

After winning three days ago, courtesy of Francesco Pio Esposito's goal, the Under-18 side were this time defeated 2-1 by Serbia in the second friendly of the week between the sides at stadio "Gran Sasso d'Italia-Italo Acconcia" in Aquila. Two of the three goals scored came at the end of the first half: son of Dejan (former Inter and Lazio player), and Inter Primavera player, Aleksandar Stankovic broke the deadlock after 38 minutes with a well-placed free-kick. The equaliser came through Italy captain, Alessandro Bolzan's header on the stroke of half-time. Immediately after the break, Serbia went back ahead thanks to Jovan Milosevic.

"We changed the team from the first game because, especially at the beginning of a season, it's right to see as many players as possible," Head Coach Daniele Franceschini explained. "In addition, there were four debutants. In the second half, after going 2-1 down, we tried to get back into it, creating numerous chances. The boys gave it their all: we're sad for the result, but the performance was good and we take away from these two games many positives."
