“You’re not alone, call 1522” Spalletti and Gama involved in the government-sponsored campaign

"You are not alone, call 1522": this is the slogan that lit up Palazzo Chigi and that the Government has chosen to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni presented the campaign promoted by Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi and Minister for Family, Birth and Equal Opportunities Eugenia Roccella, who were present at Largo Chigi alongside the Prime Minister. With them, many Italian sports stars: Bebe Vio, footballers Alessio Romagnoli and Bryan Cristante, volleyball player Ivan Zaytsev, unforgettable champions such as Massimiliano Rosolino, Alessandra Sensini and Manuela Di Centa.

“Tonight we are here,” said the Prime Minister, “to tell Italian women that they are not alone. 1522 is a number you can call at any hour if you are afraid and you will find someone on the other end who can help you. Those who are afraid,” Meloni added, “know that you are not alone. The rules are there. The institutions are there and Italian women must know this. If you think that being afraid is normal, it is not. If you think that love hurts, it does not. We are free and there is no one who can take that freedom away from us.”

Minister Abodi said that “we should not find ourselves only in a moment of reflection and emotion in the face of a life that was taken by non-love,” evidently referring to the killing of Giulia Cecchettin. “What must be done about violence against women,” he emphasised, “is talk about it especially when things are going on normally. We must all get together and prepare the circumstances so that women can feel safe and free to choose their own lives and who they are with.” "The 1522 number," added Minister Roccella, "is the first hand outstretched to women", because "you are not alone means the community stands by women who are afraid.”

On this occasion, the awareness-raising campaign against violence against women promoted by the Minister for Equal Opportunities and the Minister for Sport and Youths was presented: a commercial that will be broadcast on TV in the next few days, in which the stars are sportsmen and women. Among them, also the coach of the Italian national football team Luciano Spalletti and the national women's team player Sara Gama. The message of the ad, repeated by many stars of Italian sport, is precisely the one projected this evening at Palazzo Chigi: 'You are not alone, call 1522':
