The awards ceremony for the 'Hall of Fame of Italian Football' will take place on 23 May in Florence

The idyllic setting of the Salone dei Cinquecento of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence will host the 'Hall of Fame of Italian football' on Monday 23 May (15:00 CEST, with a live stream on www.figc.it); an award that was established back in 2011 by FIGC and the Fondazione Museo del Calcio to celebrate the individuals who have ingrained themselves in the history of Italian football.

 On 3 February, the awards panel consisted of the president of the Italian Sports Press Union, Gianfranco Coppola, and the directors of national sports newspapers, whose jobs it was to elect the recipients of the tenth edition of the 'Hall of Fame of Italian football' award: Alessandro Nesta (Italian football player), Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (Foreign Footballer), Antonio Conte (Coach), Gianluca Rocchi (Italian Referee), Antonio Cabrini (Italian Veteran), Barbara Bonansea (Italian Footballer), Giovanni Sartori (Italian Manager), Simon Kjær (Astori Award ), Luigi Simoni, Armando Picchi, Romano Fogli, Fino Fini, Vujadin Boskov, who were all awarded the Memory Awards.

Seeing as the event was not held last year, as a result of the pandemic, the prizes of the ninth edition will also be awarded during this year’s event. Here’s the list of winners: Andrea Pirlo (Italian Footballer), Zbigniew Boniek (Foreign Footballer), Carlo Mazzone (Coach), Antonio Percassi (Italian Manager), Alberto Michelotti (Italian Referee), Gabriele Oriali (Italian Veteran), Sara Gama (Italian football player), Pietro Anastasi and Luigi Radice (Memorial Awards), Romelu Lukaku and Mattia Agnese (Astori Award).

During the ceremony, as is tradition, the winners will hand over an heirloom from their career that will be added to the Football Museum’s collection.
