Rai acquires broadcasting rights for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Gravina: “An important step to promote the women’s game”

Rai, as part of the agreement between FIFA and the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) has acquired the multiplatform, exclusive free-to-air 2023 Women’s World Cup broadcasting rights. The tournament is scheduled to take place from 20 July to 20 August 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.

The broadcasting rights cover 15 matches, including all of those that will be played by Italy Women, the opening fixture, the two semi-finals and the final. The agreement with FIFA also includes broadcasting rights for the "FIFA Other Events 2024/2027" package, which consists of the U20 and U17 men’s and women’s World Cups and a few FIFA-produced documentaries dedicated to the Women’s World Cup.

“We’re pleased that an agreement has been reached between Rai and FIFA for the transmission of matches at the World Cup,” said FIGC President Gabriele Gravina. “It represents an important step as we continue to work to promote the women's game. This is something that we are doing with conviction in our country.”
