Thursday, the draw for the Nations League group stage, with Italy in the top pot

Thanks to their third-place finish in last year's competition, Roberto Mancini's national team will be seeded for the UEFA Nations League group stage draw at Nyon on Thursday 16 December (18:00 CET). The Azzurri will be joined in the first pot by defending champions France, Spain and Belgium, who were beaten 2-1 by Italy in the third-place playoff in Turin on 10 October.

The 16 teams in League A will be divided into four groups of four teams, with the top teams qualifying for the Final Four taking place in June 2023 and the bottom teams relegated to League B. The group matches will be played between June and September 2022, with four of the six matchdays being played in June due to the Qatar 2022 World Cup taking place in the winter.
