Lorenzo Insigne is the Azzurri MVP from the World Cup qualifying match between Switzerland and Italy, a game which finished in a 0-0 stalemate.
The 30-year-old received 25.47% of the votes from fans on the FIGC website, meaning he finished ahead of Nicolò Barella (20.44%) and Federico Chiesa (14,15%).
Insigne was heavily involved in Italy’s attacking play, displaying quality and creating various chances. He came close to scoring on three occasions, first firing narrowly off target with a trademark curler in the 34th minute, then seeing an effort saved by Sommer moments later and, finally, being denied by an excellent stop from the Swiss shot-stopper, who managed to keep out his left-footed strike towards the far corner with just over 15 minutes left on the clock.
Insigne was replaced by Giacomo Raspadori in the 90th minute.
