FIGC President and UEFA First Vice-President Gabriele Gravina attended the 50th edition of the UEFA Ordinary Congress in Brussels this morning. At Brussels Expo Hall 3, which will host the draw for the next UEFA Nations League group stage at 18:00 CET, Congress members approved the UEFA 2024/25 annual report, the financial report and financial statements for 2024/25, as well as the budget for the 2026/27 financial year. In addition to confirming the date of the next Ordinary Congress, which will take place on 4 March 2027 in Astana (Kazakhstan), the Congress appointed Portuguese official Fernando Gomes as a UEFA honorary member for his outstanding contribution to European football. Meanwhile, FIFPRO Europe President David Terrier of France will serve as FIFPRO Europe’s representative on the UEFA Executive Committee for the next three years.

SUPER LEAGUE. Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA, and Aleksander Ceferin, President of UEFA, expressed their full satisfaction with yesterday’s agreement between the European governing body and Real Madrid to resolve the legal disputes related to the European Super League. Both highlighted the decisive role played by Nasser Al‑Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint‑Germain and of the European Club Association, in reaching the agreement. “Football wins when we come together,” said Infantino, while Ceferin stressed that the agreement ultimately leaves football itself as the only true winner.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. The UEFA Executive Committee also met yesterday in Brussels. During the meeting, an update to the UEFA Sustainability Strategy 2030 was presented, aimed at consolidating the progress already made and strengthening the focus on collective action, measurement and accountability across the European football ecosystem. The updated strategy retains its original vision but places greater emphasis on social impact, environmental responsibility and the promotion of responsible management of football events and infrastructure. The Executive Committee also approved the creation of an annual award for the best referee and best female referee, an initiative designed to promote respect for match officials across the football community and to inspire future generations by highlighting positive role models who embody dedication, integrity and high performance.
