Francesco Massini is the new president of the Italian Referees Association (AIA). He was elected at the end of the AIA General Assembly, which took place in Rome today. Massini, who served as deputy vice-president from 2024 to 2026, won the run-off following the first-round vote.

“I would like to extend my warmest wishes to Francesco Massini as he takes up his new role as AIA president,” said FIGC Commissioner Giovanni Malagò. “A new chapter begins, and we hope it will be characterised by stability and ongoing, constructive dialogue, working closely with all the stakeholders within the FIGC. Referees play a fundamental role in upholding the rules and must be protected, valued and supported in carrying out their essential role in Italian football.”

The new AIA National Committee is as follows:

Elected Member, Central Macro-Region: Tiziano Reni

Member, Central Macro-Region: Valentina Finzi
Member, Southern Macro-Region: Valentina Garoffolo

The Assembly was held remotely, with voting conducted electronically online. A total of 950 members were eligible to vote: 11 honorary officials, 206 section presidents and 733 delegates.

The run-off vote produced the following results:
Francesco Massini – 461 votes (50.55%)
Carlo Pacifici – 441 votes (48.35%)
Blank ballots – 10 (1.1%)

The first-round vote had ended with the following results for the presidential candidates:
Francesco Massini – 323 votes
Carlo Pacifici – 321 votes
Narciso Pisacreta – 278 votes
