The FIGC are taking another step to make the game more accessible and ensure everyone can join in on the excitement of the national team. On Thursday 26 March, for the World Cup play-off semi-final between Italy and Northern Ireland, the audio description service for blind and visually impaired fans, already used by over 200 supporters at every home match since 2022, will be available remotely for the first time. Up to 500 fans will be able to follow the match from home on their smartphones via a dedicated app. The initiative highlights the Federation’s ongoing commitment to making football more inclusive, breaking down barriers and giving every fan the chance to share in the passion for the Azzurri, wherever they are.
Thanks to the collaboration with CMT–Connect Me Too, who make the service accessible, blind and visually impaired fans from the Milano Institute for the Blind will be able to experience the match against Northern Ireland directly at the Bergamo stadium, following it on their smartphones through a dedicated, inclusive audio commentary.
To access the audio description service, users will need to download the Connect Me Too app on their smartphone from the Apple Store or Play Store and register by providing their first name, last name, and a valid email address. After completing registration, an activation code will be sent by email. Once entered, users will be able to select the FIGC – Italy vs Northern Ireland event and input the unique OTP code: 32638.
