Daniele Orsato has been appointed as the new head of the National Referees Commission (CAN) for Serie A and Serie B. The announcement was made by AIA Deputy Vice-President Francesco Massini during a press conference held, as is tradition, in the Paolo Rossi Hall at FIGC headquarters, in the presence of FIGC President Giovanni Malagò.
The former international referee from the Schio section, who led CAN C last season, was appointed by the AIA National Committee on the recommendation of newly appointed Technical Director Domenico Messina. Orsato succeeds Gianluca Rocchi, who had overseen Serie A and Serie B referees since 2021 and suspended himself in April following an investigation by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office into alleged involvement in sports fraud.
Nicola Ayroldi has been appointed head of CAN C, while Paolo Dondarini will become the new refereeing chief for Serie D, replacing Stefano Braschi.
