Serie A Women is among the 14 professional women's leagues that from today become part of European Leagues, the association of European professional football leagues. An important step forward, ratified today by the extraordinary general assembly of European Leagues, which strengthens the representation of national professional football across the continent: for the first time, women's leagues will become part of the governance and decision-making structures of the association, creating a formal context through which leagues can collectively engage with governing bodies, stakeholders and political and European institutions.

The admission of these leagues brings the number of European Leagues members to 54 and reinforces its role as the collective voice of national professional football competitions across Europe. This decision follows the statutory amendments approved at the association's 52nd general assembly in Sofia earlier this year, which allow professional women's leagues to obtain full member status within European Leagues.

This decision also represents the next phase in the development of the European Women's Leagues platform, launched in July 2025 to provide a dedicated forum for collaboration between professional women's leagues. Today's decision formalises this collaboration within the association's structures and ensures full representation of women's leagues in its activities and decision-making processes. As a further important step, a representative of the women's leagues will be appointed to the European Leagues board of directors.

The integration of women's leagues comes at a time of continued growth for European women's football, with rising participation levels, increased stadium attendances, greater commercial investment and further professionalisation of national competitions: through their membership, women's leagues will have greater opportunities to collaborate, share expertise, address common challenges and contribute to discussions on the future development of professional football in Europe.

"The formal integration of professional women's leagues into European Leagues represents a historic moment for our association and an important step for the continued development of national football across Europe," said European Leagues president Claudius Schäfer. "The growth of women's football in recent years has been remarkable, with women's leagues positioned at the heart of the future development and success of the sport. Through their membership, women's leagues will play an active role in our activities and decision-making processes, ensuring that their perspectives are fully represented."

"Joining European Leagues alongside 13 other professional women's leagues from across the continent is a great milestone for our movement," highlighted Serie A Women president Federica Cappelletti. "Recognition that bears witness to the progress being made in individual nations and at international level: I believe that dialogue between the various European leagues is fundamental for the shared growth of women's football and for creating new opportunities."
