The journey of “Speak Out! Football Speaks” continues on sostenabilia.it with its ninth episode, “Rinascite” (“Rebirths”). This latest installment of FIGC’s web series on football’s social impact tackles the brutal crime of femicide. In an open and heartfelt conversation, Roberta Beolchi, president of the Edela Association, and former Andrea Carnevale, who represented Italy at the 1990 World Cup, reflect on the pain and resilience of orphans – children who find the strength to rebuild their lives after a violence that can shatter any sense of family love.

While the Edela Association, supported by FIGC, works every day to provide concrete support and protection to the orphans of femicide and their foster families, Andrea Carnevale’s story demonstrates the power of resilience and redemption. After losing his mother to his father’s violence, football became for Andrea not just a profession, but a real opportunity to care for his loved ones and turn a tragedy into a mission of love and family responsibility. Andrea Carnevale’s personal experience, alongside the dedication of the Edela Association, shows how vital it is never to look the other way,  and how only education rooted in love and a culture of prevention can prevent pain from destroying the present and future of entire families.

FIGC’s new editorial project uses a universal language, football in all its facets, to bring together different generations around highly relevant and timely issues. The series features ten episodes, released weekly on its sustainability platform sostenabilia.it (starting January 14), where the participants engage in conversations and explore experiences and initiatives that resonate with the key values of our time: respect, inclusion, legality, health protection, education, and social redemption.
