The FIGC and President Gabriele Gravina join the family of Evaristo Beccalossi in mourning, one of the most talented Italian footballers of the 1970s and 1980s, who passed away today at the age of 69. The attacking midfielder came through the ranks at his hometown club, Brescia, before signing for Inter in the summer of 1978. He made 216 appearances for the Nerazzurri (scoring 37 goals), winning the Scudetto in the 1979/80 season and lifting the Coppa Italia two years later. During his extensive career, he also represented Sampdoria, Monza, Barletta, Pordenone, and Breno, as well as wearing the Azzurri jersey. He earned three caps for the Italy Under-21 team and made four appearances with one goal for the Olympic national team.

His connection with the Azzurri never faded, even after he hung up his boots, as he went on to serve as head of delegation for the Under-20 and Under-19 national teams, winning the European title with the Under-19 side in Malta in 2023.

President Gravina commented, “We have lost a genuine person, a man with a deep love for football, and a role model for young players. As well as being a great footballer, in his role as head of delegation for the youth national teams, he helped shape the development of many young players, to whom he passed on his love for the game.”
