This morning, the “Shades of Azzurro” exhibition opened in the Sala degli Zavatteri of the Basilica Palladiana, promoted by FIGC and the Museo del Calcio in collaboration with the city of Vicenza. On Saturday, March 7 at 18:15 CET, the exhibition will host Italy vs Denmark, the second World Cup qualifying match for Andrea Soncin’s team.

The exhibition, which tours the country showcasing memorabilia usually kept at the Museo del Calcio in Coverciano, returns to Vicenza for the second time after its great success in October 2024. “Shades of Azzurro” takes visitors on a journey through the glorious history of Italy’s national teams, featuring iconic jerseys and trophies and celebrating both World and European triumphs. On display are the trophies won by the Italy national football team in 1982 and 2006, as well as the most recent continental cup from 2021. Numerous items belonging to past and present champions are also featured. The exhibition will remain open to the public until March 8, with free admission from 10:00 to 18:00 CET.
The opening ceremony, introduced by Deputy Mayor and Equal Opportunities Councilor Isabella Sala, was attended by Sports Councilor Leone Zilio (who, together with Mayor Giacomo Possamai, will welcome the team to the “Menti” stadium for the walkaround tomorrow evening), Italian football legend Betty Vignotto, and Vice President of the Museo del Calcio, Enrico Demarchi. For four days, leading up to International Women’s Day, Vicenza will once again turn blue to support Italy women's national football team, led by Girelli and teammates, for a crucial World Cup qualifying match. Tickets for the game are available at Vivaticket agencies and on figc.vivaticket.it.

The excitement for the Azzurre arriving in the city extends beyond fans and local institutions. Stefano Rosso, President of Vicenza Calcio, also expressed his joy at being able to cheer for Italy again: “We are very proud and honored to host such an important event here in our city, in our home, in our stadium,” he said. “We have always been partners of the national team and have hosted several matches here at the Menti. We are especially happy to support women’s football, a rapidly growing movement that is very important for the sport we all love.”
