From the emotion of EURO 2025 to games against the top 3 non-European sides in the women’s international game, Sara Gama returns to the fold, now as the Head of Delegation for our Women’s First Team. Following a brilliant summer tournament, Italy is preparing for games against Japan and Brazil on 24 and 28 October, in Como and Parma, respectively. These are two important friendlies ahead of the hotly anticipated tour to Florida, where we will take on the USMNT in a double header (29 November in Orlando, 2 December in Fort Lauderdale).

Before travelling to the USA, Italy will take on the Nadeshiko and the Seleção, who are currently eighth and seventh in the FIFA World Rankings. Andrea Soncin has selected a 30-player squad. The new additions are Parma captain Caterina Ambrosi and Roma forward Alice Corelli. Meanwhile, Giulia Dragoni returns from an ankle injury, which forced her to miss the Euros. Lazio winger Federica D’Auria and Como midfielder Nadine Nischler also make a comeback after not making the pre-Euros squad. However, Manuela Giugliano and Lucia Di Guglielmo have both been ruled out due to injury.

The squad will convene on Sunday 19 October and will remain at Coverciano until departing for Como, where the Azzurre will play for the first time in 28 years. Following our eighth meeting with Japan, the team will return to the training ground to prepare for our eighth meeting with Brazil. Italy will need the support of the Tardini in the hopes of claiming a first-ever victory over the Canarinhas.

SARA GAMA NAMED HEAD OF DELEGATIONS. After 140 caps in 18 years, one World Cup appearance, and four Euros, Sara Gama now returns to the international fold. The former Juventus and Italy captain will replace Chiara Marchitelli as the Head of Delegation. It’s a role that will allow the Trieste-born 36-year-old to continue writing history in Italian football alongside her former teammates. “I would like to wish Sara a warm welcome home,” said FIGC President Gabriele Gravina. “In her new role, she will make a key contribution in the Association’s plans to build the Azzurre, who are the pinnacle of an ever-growing movement. I also want to take the chance to thank Chiara Marchitelli for her passion and dedication that she’s shown in her years of service.”
