A narrow victory for Italy’s U-19s, who defeated Scotland 1-0 at the Mario Lancellotta Stadium in Isernia, in the second and final friendly of the series, following the 1-1 draw three days earlier in Campobasso.

The deciding goal was scored in the 28th minute by Juventus’ Antonio Stefano Merola.

“Beyond the result, which was deserved”, said Coach Alberto Bollini, “I’m very satisfied with the squad’s performance, especially in the first half. We domimated the game, managing to build our attack playing both through the middle and on the wings. In the first match we did well in the opening half, taking the lead before losing focus after the break and conceding the equaliser, but today the boys took a real step forward.  Given the amount of play we created over the two matches, we need to improve in front of goal, both in our finishing and in duels. Despite the absences, our focus remains on hard work and team unity.”
