Bastoni out of Azzurri squad, Carnesecchi and Mancini called up

This morning, the Italy squad are in training ahead of the departure for Rome on the eve of the match against North Macedonia. Following the medical examinations effectuated this morning, it has been confirmed that Alessandro Bastoni had an injury to his right calf muscle and will therefore be unable to play in the upcoming fixtures against North Macedonia and Ukraine and will return to Inter. The defender, who had to pull out of yesterday’s training session, leaves alongside Meret, Calabria, Toloi and Locatelli. In his place, Luciano Spalletti has called up the Roma defender Gianluca Mancini, who will join the group in the capital this evening.

During the night, Guglielmo Vicario suffered a slight fever. As a cautionary measure, the Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi has been called up and will join the group at Coverciano in the late morning.
