Classic Azzurri: PUMA presents Italy's 2022 Home Kit

Today, PUMA presents Italy's new 2022 Home kit, offering a bold and modern take on retro vibes and football nostalgia. The new jersey gives a classic concept a fresh twist, paying homage to the National Team's history.

In 2022, PUMA is celebrating the heritage of Italy’s blue shirts and exciting football. With gold accents, retro fonts and proud references to amazing triumphs, the new Italy Home shirt is divided into four parts to honour four iconic Azzurri sides. It all began with consecutive World Cup victories in 1934 and 1938. Then, there was the story of rejuvenation in 1982 and the special win in 2006.

“Football shirts are part of Italian culture. Style, fashion and history are all cornerstones of an Italy shirt,” said Marco Mueller, Senior Head of Product Line Management for Teamsport Apparel. “Attention to detail is important. The objective was to develop an elegant shirt that brings together different generations of Italians and pays homage to Italian football’s incredible history and the passion of Italian fans.”

“This shirt will be the last one I wear representing Italy. I’m proud to be able to take to the Wembley pitch wearing the Azzurro of Italy for one last time,” said Giorgio Chiellini, the National Team captain. “This jersey will remain in my heart forever. Like always, I’ll do my best to honour it.”

“The new shirt honours the history of Italian football and we look forward to achieving important results during our international adventures,” said Italy Women captain Sara Gama. “We’ll wear this jersey with pride and want all Italians to continue to dream with us.”

The new shirt is available in two versions. The ‘authentic’ jersey features ULTRAWEAVE performance fabric and DryCELL technology for maximum breathability, making it the lightest and most comfortable jersey ever made by PUMA. The ‘replica’ jersey consists of 100% recycled polyester with DryCELL technology to ensure maximum breathability and to keep the skin dry for 90 minutes and beyond, regardless of the time, pitch or location.

The new Home kit will make its debut when Italy face Argentina at Wembley on 1 June.

The jersey will be available on PUMA.com, in PUMA stores and at major football retailers around the world.
