EURO 2025 fast approaching: Soffia forced to leave training camp

After just over two days’ rest, the Azzurre returned to training yesterday as preparations for EURO 2025 enter the final stretch. Italy Women, whose campaign will begin against Belgium in Sion on Thursday 3 July, resumed work at Coverciano for the closing days of their pre-tournament training camp on home soil. The official squad list will be confirmed on Wednesday ahead of the team’s departure for Switzerland on Friday evening.

Andrea Soncin will be without Angelica Soffia for the tournament, which kicks off next Tuesday. The AC Milan full-back injured her right hamstring in the team’s final session last week and has since returned to Milan. She has already wished her teammates the very best on social media. Last night, Italian singer Noemi, a big football fan and passionate supporter of the Azzurre, joined the players via video call and together they all sang ‘Macumba’, one of her best-known songs.

It was a fantastic surprise for a group that is fully focused on their fast-approaching adventure in Switzerland. After today’s training session, the players and coaching staff met with Rosetti, UEFA's managing director for refereeing, who outlined the guidelines and directives that match officials will follow during the European Championship.
