Following their two defeats, 2–0 and 3–0 in Las Rozas, against Spain and matches against France in February, one win 2–0 and one defeat 2–1 in Coverciano, will come together from 17 to 21 March at the Federal Technical Centre for a training camp in preparation for the second round of the European qualifiers, scheduled from 25 to 31 March in Umbria.

The Azzurrini will compete in Group A2 of League A against Iceland, Romania, and Portugal, the reigning European champions.

Coach Daniele Franceschini has called up 26 players for the occasion, all born in 2009, except three born in 2010: defenders Lorenzo Dattilo and Alessandro Ghiotto, from Roma and Juventus respectively, and Empoli midfielder Francesco Olivieri.

The final squad of 20 players will be announced on Saturday, 21 March, in the afternoon at the end of the friendly match against Empoli’s Under-17 team, coached by Lorenzo Tonelli, scheduled for 11:00 CET
