Italy have moved down to 13th place in the FIFA Rankings, after being overtaken by the newly crowned African champions, Senegal, dropping one position compared to last month. Most of the changes in the standings were a result of the African Cup of Nations, which ended yesterday with the Lions of Teranga winning in extra time (12th place, +7) in the final against hosts Morocco (8th place, +3), their best-ever position. At the top of the standings, Spain stay firmly in first place, ahead of the reigning World champions Argentina and France. Along with Italy, Belgium (9th, -1), Germany (10th, -1), and Croatia (11th, -1) have also dropped positions.

Thanks to their AFCON campaigns, Nigeria (26th), who won the bronze medal, and Cameroon, who reached the quarter-finals, also moved up twelve places. The next FIFA Rankings will be published on 1 April, the day after the World Cup play-offs.
