After the draw with Japan and defeats to Brazil and the United States in the end-of-year friendlies, the Azzurre drops one spot in the FIFA Ranking, overtaken by Norway, falling to 13th place (1875.71 points). The top ten remains unchanged, still with Spain leading the way, as they just won the Nations League, repeating their success from the 2023/24 season. Then there is the United States and Germany, who return to the podium in place of Sweden (now fifth, behind England).
In 2026, which will begin in March with the first two World Cup qualifying fixtures against Sweden and Denmark, the Azzurre aim to climb the rankings once again. Andrea Soncin’s team had risen as high as 12th place, their best position since 2014, thanks to the excellent results seen in the Nations League and the Euros.
