A special day for Italy's European champion Under-17 National Team, who today enjoyed two prestigious engagements at the heart of Italy's sporting and political institutions.

The Azzurrini — who on 7 June lifted the continental title for the second time in Italy's history, following their triumph in Cyprus in 2024, defeating Belgium on penalties in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship final — were welcomed this morning at the FIGC headquarters on Via Allegri by President Gabriele Gravina and General Secretary Marco Brunelli in the prestigious Paolo Rossi Hall.

The delegation, led by Head Coach Daniele Franceschini, was greeted with applause from FIGC staff, a symbolic gesture recognising the remarkable journey completed by the Azzurrini in Estonia.

One of the most significant moments came when Under-17 captain Edoardo Biondini addressed his teammates and the federation's leadership, expressing his gratitude for the support received throughout the tournament.

"We played to honour the shirt and we hope we proved worthy of this wonderful responsibility," said the captain, earning the attention and appreciation of everyone present.

Words of praise and recognition also came from Gabriele Gravina, who highlighted the significance of the work carried out by the group. Their journey, built on development, identity and a strong sense of belonging, reflects the core principles of Italian youth football's growth strategy.

Within that vision, Club Italia continues to play a central role, thanks in part to the coordination and guidance of Maurizio Viscidi, a key figure in the development and progression of Italy's youth national teams.

The Azzurrini's day in Rome then continued at Palazzo Giustiniani, where players and staff were received by President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa.

The institutional meeting provided another prestigious moment of celebration for a team that represents the future of Italian football.

During the visit, La Russa underlined the deeper significance of the Under-17s' European success while also delivering a message to Italian football as a whole.

"The system is there, the talent is there, and the desire to win can become victory. We must trust them," he said.

The President of the Senate also spoke about the long-term value of the achievement.

"It's difficult for everything to happen immediately, but you are a source of hope. My wish is for Italy to achieve success thanks to you."
