Italy’s women’s futsal national team arrived at the Futsal Week tournament as, in all likelihood, the team to beat. Drawn in a group with Serbia, Morocco and Czech Republic, the start to the tournament (already won by Italy in 2019 and 2024) was thrilling: with a dominant and convincing 19-1 victory over Serbia, the Azzurre set the tone for the rest of the tournament. Tomorrow, at 12:15 CEST, the intensity will rise: Morocco await, having already faced Italy in a friendly last September and, like Italy, having featured at the first-ever Women’s Futsal World Cup held in the Philippines last November. Among Italy’s 19 goals, notable highlights included captain Coppari’s early brace, the first Azzurre goals for Alice Virdis, Greta Maretti and Natasha Barban, as well as the usual clinical finishing from Adamatti and Boutimah, who both scored hat-tricks.

SALVATORE: At the end of the match, head coach Francesca Salvatore commented, “I’m happy with the debuts of the younger players. We got off to a positive start, combining experience and youth on the court, and the big result rewards the girls’ commitment. We’ve reached a level of organisation in our play that allows anyone coming into the squad to settle in immediately and feel comfortable. Against Morocco, the level we will be up against will certainly be more challenging.”
