A perfect run for the Italian women’s futsal national team, who in Porec, Croatia, won the Futsal Week tournament after a week in which the Azzurre defeated Serbia, Morocco, and Czechia, before beating hosts Croatia 3-1 in this afternoon’s final. It is Italy’s third success in the international tournament, following previous victories in 2019 and 2024. In the final against the Croatian hosts, Coppari and her teammates struggled to break through in the first half, which ended goalless at 0-0. The decisive breakthrough came early in the second half, with Boutimah opening the scoring in the 2nd minute and Mansueto doubling the lead just three minutes later. Up 2-0 within five minutes of the restart, the Azzurre were briefly threatened by a Croatian response: Bicanic pulled one back in the 10th minute. In the closing stages, the hosts pushed forward with a flying goalkeeper, but Mansueto struck again to seal the match and the tournament, scoring the decisive 3-1 goal with one minute remaining.

SALVATORE. At the end of the match, head coach Francesca Salvatore gave her anaylsis: “In a sporting world where winning and convincing is often not enough, we compete, we win, and we go home with a clear understanding of our identity. We played with nine players (50% of the squad) who were not in the World Cup roster six months ago. Among them were four girls who recently reached the Under-19 championship final. Even with these changes, we maintain a high level of competitiveness. Ours is a long-term project that continues to move forward with growing confidence in the methodological work we are building. The consistency of our progress, achieving different kinds of objectives, both on the pitch and in terms of planning, is our strength. This season has taken us to fifth place in the world rankings, with the ambition of reaching the European Championship finals for the first time next year, knowing we can compete for a medal. We are ready to reap the rewards of the work done over these years. As a coaching staff, I thank the Federation for the support it gives us in relation to the results achieved and the future goals we aim to pursue together.”
