A second friendly against Poland and a second 0-0 draw for the 2006-born squad, who began their preparations for the Women’s U20 World Cup in Poland in September with this double test against the hosts. As on Wednesday, the match at the Federal Technical Centre in Coverciano today was goalless, but Italy still delivered a solid performance.
“We close the week with many positive signs,” said coach Fabbro in his post-match assessment. “The aim of this training camp was to give all the players the opportunity to get on the pitch. We made many changes across the two matches, but I saw effort, commitment and two good performances. We created several chances again today.”

THE MATCH
In the opening 20 minutes, Italy launched attacks through Viesti, Longobardi and Zamboni. Poland’s first attempt came in the 22nd minute through Roma’s Piekarska, before a chance fell for Perselli five minutes later, after which Di Nallo was forced to block an effort from Zgoda.
After the break, Fabbro rotated his options: Gallina replaced Zamboni, Cherubini came on for Calegari, Tironi for Ciabini, and Tornaghi took over in goal from Di Nallo. Further substitutions followed, with Minuscoli, Rossi and De Muri replacing Davico, Longobardi and Sciabica.
Rossi, who plays in Spain for Getafe, had two opportunities in the 70th and 82nd minutes, before a closing spell in which Poland also tried to pressure Italy’s goal. The final changes from Fabbro saw Viesti, Perselli and Catena make way for Ghio, Fadda and Pieri.
