Following their opening day defeat to Japan, the Under-16 Women's National Team bounced back with a comfortable 5-0 win against Macedonia in Torviscosa to pick up their first three points of the Tournament of Nations. The result was never in doubt as first-half goals from Nicole Arcangeli, Giada Abate and Serena Cortesi saw the Azzurrine three up at the break. After the restart, Sara Caiazzo made it 4-0 before Elisa Mariani put the icing on the cake with a great long-range effort.


"The girls interpreted the match in the best possible way," said Head Coach Jacopo Leandri. "Even if we weren't playing the strongest of opponents, we still played really well." The Azzurrine's next opponents are Russia, who lost 2-0 in the other group game. This match will be played on Wednesday at 18:00 CEST in Aquileia. "I'm sure that the girls will put in a great performance and give their best irrespetvie of the result," added Leandri.
