The Azzurre's opening game at Euro 2022 was watched by almost three million viewers on the two channels that will broadcast the team’s fortunes in the tournament, Rai 1 and Sky Sports.


Over 2.64 million people saw the match against France on Rai 1, which was the most popular programme during the evening recording a share of 18%; it even reached 21.8% during the first half (3.3 million). Despite the heavy defeat against one of the tournament’s favourites, the Italian public also followed and supported the girls on Sky – shown on various channels through a simulcast - where the game was watched by 320,000 people, a total share of 2%. Meanwhile, online social media interactions reached over 1.8 million for the game at the New York Stadium in Rotherham, as reported by UEFA.
Azzurro Shocking - The documentary ‘Azzurro Shocking, how the girls reconquered football’ was also well-received on Rai 1 on Saturday evening at 20:30. The incredible story of the women’s game in Italy, produced in collaboration with the FIGC, was seen by nearly two million people (a share of 14.5%).
