Following a training camp at the FIGC Technical Centre in Coverciano from 22 to 25 June, the Azzurrini are ready to begin their UEFA European Under-19 Championship campaign in Wales, where the finals will take place from 28 June to 11 July.
Earlier today, Head Coach Alberto Bollini announced his 20-man squad for the tournament. The group is made up predominantly of players born in 2007, with the exception of five born in 2008 (Christian Comotto, Cristiano De Paoli, Mattia Marello, Andrea Natali and Samuel Wiafe) and two born in 2009 (Antonio Arena and Destiny Onoguekhan Elimoghale).
The Azzurrini, who will travel to Conwy tomorrow, begin their Group B campaign against Serbia at The Oval in Caernarfon on Monday 29 June (16:00 local time, 17:00 CEST). They will then take on Croatia at the same venue on Thursday 2 July (14:00 local time, 15:00 CEST), before rounding off the group stage against Ukraine at the Bangor City Stadium on Sunday 5 July (16:00 local time, 17:00 CEST).
The top two teams from each of the two groups will progress to the semi-finals, which will be played on Wednesday 8 July in Denbigh (16:30 local time, 17:30 CEST) and Wrexham (19:00 local time, 20:00 CEST). The final will take place at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday 11 July (19:00 local time, 20:00 CEST).
In addition to the Euros, which Italy most recently won in Malta in 2023, qualification for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan will also be at stake. The four semi-finalists will secure their place automatically, while the final berth will go to the winner of the play-off between the two third-placed teams, to be played in Bangor on Wednesday 8 July (14:00 local time, 15:00 CEST).
