FIGC saddended to learn of Aldo Bet's passing

The FIGC and President Gabriele Gravina would like to extend their condolances to the family of Aldo Bet, former Italian player and Head Coach , who passed away in Varese at the age of 74. A defender by trade, he came through the ranks at Inter, and where he made 18 appearances in Serie A. In 1968, he was bought by Helenio Herrera's Roma, where he stayed until 1973 following 130 games and winning a Coppa Italia (’68-’69). After a season at Verona, he joined Milan and played 144 times across seven seasons, winning another Coppa Italia (’76-’77) and the tenth Scudetto title in Rossoneri history (’81-‘82), adding their first star to the jersey.

He won two caps for the National Team, both in 1971, in a 2-1 friendly defeat to Spain in Cagliari and a Euro qualifier in Rome against Austria, which ended 2-2. After hanging up his boots as a player at Pozzuoli, he devoted himself to leading the side from Campania, as well as Nola, Frattese and Savoia. An observer for the National team, he worked with Sacchi, Maldini, Zoff and Trapattoni, and he was also part of the backroom staff during the Under-21s' successful 2004 European Championships, where they lifted the trophy.
